The hospitality and warmth of the Cook Islands and its people is a welcoming start to your
holiday, whether it be for a stopover on the way 'down under' or a holiday in itself. The
varying landscapes, islands and offerings of the Cooks makes it a destination with
something for everyone, setting it apart in its own class amongst the South Pacific Islands.
Carrying a historical past, the locals today live in a modern lifestyle. It is a great spot for
honeymooners and couples or those just wanting to relax in tropical paradise sipping Pina
Coladas, swinging in your hammock. The island of Rarotonga is filled with activities and
attractions all easily accessible no matter where you are staying.

When in the islands remember to set your watch to 'island time' as everything runs at a
much slower pace in the Cooks. Enjoy the relaxing and tranquil setting of the turquoise
waters and swaying palm trees of the unspoiled Cooks. The Polynesian people of the Cook
Islands are friendly and welcoming; song and dance are very much a part of their vibrant
culture.

There are zero high-rise hotels or over-crowded beaches on these islands, but there is a
range of places to stay throughout the various islands from resorts and hotels to cottages,
homes or villas depending on what you are looking for. Small and quaint to bigger and
luxurious properties are available on most of the islands to suit all tastes. Each island offers
visitors its own qualities and personal touch. The main islands have villages to visit as well
as a number of bars and entertainment shows.

The Cook Islands are composed of 15 islands spread over some two million square
kilometers in the South Pacific Ocean with a total population of about 14,000 people. They
are situated in the middle of the Polynesian Triangle with the Tongan and Samoan islands
to the west and the islands of French Polynesia to its east. The Polynesians of the Cook
Islands have their own language and government and you can experience diverse cultures
which differ between each island.

A variety of tours and cultural experiences are available to witness the beautiful scenery,
history and culture, alternatively, you can hike and explore islands such as Rarotonga on
your own.

Rarotonga is the capital and centre of the Cooks with many activities to take part in. The
island is 32km in circumference, making it easy to get around. It is scattered with villages
and beaches surrounding high mountain peaks feeding lush rainforests which drop down to
the shores. Avarua is the commercial centre where you will find a selection of shops, visitor
info centers, banks, cafes and dining. Two of the best beach locations in Rarotonga are in
Muri and Titikaveka.

Rarotonga is almost completely encircled by reef, meaning the inner lagoons surrounding
the island are captivating, with the surrounding areas and outer reef being excellent spots
for snorkeling, diving and fishing. The visibility is often 100 - 200 feet with caves, canyons,
and an abundance of coral reefs, fish and even wreck dives. At low tide lagoon reef walking
tours are offered to take you along the outer edges of the coral reefs. Scenic flights are also a
great way to view the stunning scenic surroundings. There are opportunities to learn about
the local wildlife at Takitumu Conservation Area as well as bird watching tours for those
interested. Other alternatives include taking a day trip from Rarotonga, options include
island tours or lagoon cruises where you can swim and explore the other islands and their
beaches.

Aitutaki is the other main island to visit while holidaying in the Cooks and of course, it
offers nothing but the most beautiful crystal azure waters and white sand beaches. It is less
then an hour's flight away from Rarotonga. The island is partly volcanic and surrounded by
a 45-kilometer lagoon with an abundance of bright fish and coral reefs. A tranquil island,
this is the perfect place to unwind.

The Cook Islands bestow the perfect holiday getaway in its natural unsurpassed tropical
beauty. Whether you are looking to explore and hike ancient lands or take a soothing local
cruise around the crystal clear waters, go horseback riding, snorkeling, diving, fishing,
kayaking, windsurfing or to simply enjoy the local shopping and exquisite dining the Cooks
present it all effortlessly! Ask us about your holiday to this South Pacific destination and we
will help you plan your perfect vacation away from it all.

This area is popular for snorkelling and diving. Ask one of our certified divers about trips to
the reef!
