Three Day Yarra Valley Experience Tour Length: 3 Days Tour Code: ALE 5020 Departing: City Hotels Min No of Passengers: 2 Day One: From Melbourne city centre, travel through a cross section of suburbs to the eucalypt forests of Warrandyte. Enjoy a short stroll with your guide with a chance to see the diverse birdlife and koalas that inhabit the forest. A short drive to a nearby forest area will enable you to enjoy morning tea whilst having the chance to see kangaroos relaxing in their natural habitat. Drive downward into the rich greenness of Yarra Valley. Over 50 wineries are established in the valley, varying in size from small family vineyards to large international establishments. We enjoy lunch at nearby Eyton restaurant. It is situated in the Rochford winery, which is known for having some of the best Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs in the region, which is highlighted by the amount of awards they have won. After lunch, visit a boutique winery for further wine tastings. Drive through the valley to the cool and inviting forests of the Dandenong Ranges. The tall wet eucalypt forests feature the large mountain ash trees and verdant canopy of tree ferns. A short walk with your guide takes you along a ferngully stream deep into the forest. The mimicking calls of the lyrebird can sometimes be heard. We return to Chateau Yering in the late afternoon. Day Two: This morning will be the highlight of your experience here. Discover the romance and serenity of a balloon flight. Arriving at dawn, you will rise above the patchwork landscape of Victoria's Yarra Valley. With a blast of the burner the balloon rises into the first light of morning, floating gently over corridors of vines with glimpses of the Yarra River below. Time seems to stand still as you are suspended between earth and sky. Sunrise tones highlight deep hues of the vineyards set amongst the meandering bends of the upper Yarra River. As you drift beside the majestic Dandenong Ranges, views of the city and the blue of Port Phillip Bay can be seen far in the distance. After landing, you return to the award-winning De Bortoli Winery to enjoy a sumptuous gourmet breakfast, washed down with champagne. After breakfast treat yourself to complementary wine tasting at De Bortoli. Day three: Today we start our day with a beautiful breakfast before making our way to Fergussons winery for a tasting. We will spend today going back to your favourite wineries or simply taking it easy on our way back to Melbourne. Lunch will be enroute and we will have you back in Melbourne by late afternoon. |
