ITINERARY Day 1: Arrive Melbourne You will be met on arrival and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure. Overnight: Novotel Melbourne on Collins for 3 nights Day 2: Best of Melbourne City Sights & Tramcar Today, explore Melbourne. Highlights include Yarra River, the Dandenongs, Queen Victoria Market, Fitzroy Gardens China Town, Flinders Street Station and much more. This evening, dine aboard a magnificently-restored 1927 tramcar as it trundles the streets of Melbourne. (D) Day 3: Phillip Island Penguins Tour This tour begins around 1:30pm. Get close to the remarkable penguins and wildlife of Australia Phillip Island, home to an astounding array of wildlife, including Australia's largest fur seal colony, the little penguins and cuddly koalas. The Phillip Island Nature Park now offers new up-close ways to witness the Penguin spectacle. See the Melbourne bayside suburbs of St.Kilda and Brighton. Visit Warrook, a working cattle farm in the prosperous Gippsland region. Enjoy the opportunity to pat and feed kangaroos, wallabies and a host of farm animals. Arrive back in Melbourne, summertime is approximately 11.30pm and wintertime approximately 10.30pm. Day 4: Melbourne—Adelaide This morning, you’ll be transferred to the Melbourne airport for your onward flight to Adelaide (flight not included) and escorted by shuttle to your accommodation. This afternoon is at leisure to explore the city. Overnight: Franklin Central Apartments Day 5: Adelaide—Kangaroo Island Transfer from Adelaide by coach and ferry to explore Kangaroo Islands wilderness areas and wildlife sanctuaries. Visit wild colonies of Australian Sea Lions resting on the beach after their 3 day fishing expedition. After a koala walk, discover the Islands most renowned park, Flinders Chase National Park, a sanctuary for numerous native Australian animals including kangaroos, wallabies, koalas and Cape Barren Geese. On the southern tip of Flinders Chase National Park are Remarkable Rocks and Admirals Arch. Remarkable Rocks, etched out of Kangaroo Islands spectacular coastline, are truly remarkable in size and shape. Your day of discovery ends at your accommodation, Airport or the SeaLink ferry terminal. The tour includes a two course BBQ lunch with homemade salads (vegetarian meals can be organized by prior request). (L) Overnight: Ozone Seafront Hotel Day 6: Kangaroo Island—Adelaide Return to Adelaide by ferry and coach. On arrival, transfer to your hotel in Adelaide. Overnight: Franklin Central Apartments Day 7: Adelaide—Uluru (Ayers Rock) This morning you will be transferred from your Adelaide accommodation to the airport for your flight to Ayers Rock Resort (flight not included). The afternoon is at leisure. We suggest you visit the art galleries and the informative visitors’ center. Tonight, experience the romance of the desert, the setting of the sun behind the domes of Kata Tjuta and Uluru, the haunting sounds of a didgeridoo, sumptuous outback fare and the star-filled heavens in the “Sounds of Silence” dinner. After a feast of Northern Territory delights, you can dream away under a canopy of stars as a resident astronomer points out a plethora of constellations in the vast skies of the outback. Return to your hotel in the evening. Overnight: Desert Gardens for 2 nights (D) Day 8: Uluru (Ayers Rock) and Kata Tjuta (Olgas) Rise early and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee as you witness Uluru (Ayers Rock) at sunrise. See the magnificent show of colour as the sun's first rays strike the mighty monolith. After the sun has risen you will be transferred to the base of the Uluru Climb. As you make the strenuous, though exhilarating climb, take in the magnificent desert plains at sunrise. Once at the summit, enjoy unhindered 360-degree views of this vast desertscape. From here, see Kata Tjuta (Olgas), a cluster of 36 massive domes with twisted gorges and valleys running between them. Visit the Cultural Centre and stop by Maruku Arts and Craft Cooperative, where you may see Aboriginal artists at work. Note: Anangu, Traditional Owners, would prefer that visitors choose not to climb Uluru. The climb may be closed without notice due to weather or cultural reasons. No refunds will be given in this situation. Day 9: Uluru (Ayers Rock)—Cairns A shuttle will transfer you to Ayers Rock Airport to connect with your onward flight to Cairns (flight not included). Spend the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight: Rydges Esplanade Resort Cairns for 3 nights Day 10. Outer Great Barrier Reef Cruise Journey to the Agincourt ribbon reef, at the very outer edge of the Great Barrier Reef for your personal reef discovery. Ideal for snorkellers, scuba divers and non-swimmers seeking the widest choice of reef experiences including snorkelling, underwater observatory and semi-submersible. All snorkelling equipment and tuition is provided Morning and afternoon tea and tropical seafood lunch included. World Heritage Cape Tribulation and Daintree Explorer 4X4 Leaving Cairns and the Cairns Beaches, we travel along one of Australia's most spectacular coastal drives to the resort village of Port Douglas. After visiting some of the highlights of Port Douglas, your guide will explain the unique geographical and historic features in the area en route to Mossman Gorge, part of the Daintree Rainforest. Here, you may swim in the cool pristine waters or join your driver for a guided rainforest walk. Back into the comfort of our four wheel drive vehicle, we head to the Daintree River where morning tea is provided before embarking on a one hour river cruise. The Daintree river is home to a diverse ecosystem and the cruise guide will help you spot some of the wildlife including birds, snakes, frogs, flying fox and in the cooler months, crocodiles can be seen lazing on the muddy banks. After the cruise, we travel up to the spectacular Alexander Range Lookout before arriving at our private lunch location at a tropical fruit orchard. On offer is a splendid barbecue lunch of fresh fish, sumptuous steak and tropical salads and fruits. Enjoy a refreshing swim at our secluded swimming hole while lunch is cooking or wander amongst the many exotic tropical fruit trees. After lunch, we travel further north to the isolated Cape Tribulation, where the beach beckons you to stroll along it's coral sands. There is time to visit the lookout before departing for a relaxing and informative guided walk through Cape Tribulation National Park. By visiting this area, you can appreciate the importance of this rainforest and why it has recently been given World Heritage status. After the walk you will be offered afternoon tea before boarding our air-conditioned 4 wheel drive vehicle to traverse the Alexander Range. We then cross the River by Cable Barge and enjoy a leisurely drive back to Cairns, before we return you to your accommodation. (L) Day 12: Cairns—Sydney This morning you will be met and transferred for your onward flight to Sydney (flight not included). Afternoon is at leisure. Overnight: The Grace Hotel for 4 nights Day 13: Morning Panoramic Sydney City Sights On tour you'll visit the historic Rocks area and hear early convict history. Enjoy magnificent views of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge. See the shopping heart of the city, QVB, Centrepoint. Visit Sydney's trendy new district Oxford Street. Travel through elegant Paddington with its terrace houses before arriving at the Pacific Ocean. See the superb coast cliff walk around Tamarama and Bronte. Travel on to famous Bondi Beach. Visit the beachfront promenade, enjoy a coffee or cool drink (at own cost). See bronzed Aussie lifsavers and Sydney's best panoramic view at Dover Heights. Return to Sydney via Double Bay, Kings Cross and Mrs Macquaries Point for a final magical viewpoint over the harbour before returning to the city centre. (L) Day 15. Hunter Valley Wine and Wilderness Tour Small group touring in a deluxe mini coach. Personalised wine tastings at boutique wineries not visited by large coaches. We travel to the first of our Boutique Wineries to sample premium Hinter Wines before adjourning to a renowned Vineyard Cafe to enjoy our lunch. During the afternoon we take the opportunity to sample some of the Hunter Valleys famous wines at a further 2 respected boutique wineries and you have the opportunity to purchase wines that are not available anywhere else. Our local guide will explain wine making and the industry in the Hunter. We return to Sydney via the freeway for arrival at your hotel at approximately between 5.30 pm to 6.00 pm.
